In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the terms in the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle requires:
- To hire a vehicle from Car Hire in Renfrew, you must be at least 21 years old, although age restrictions may differ based on the vehicle selected. A valid, full driving licence that meets the minimum duration outlined in the Rental Agreement is required. Additionally, please present valid identification and proof of your current address. Payment information and a security deposit must also be provided. Ensure you meet any other criteria noted in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Options
- Reservations for vehicle hire can be completed via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Renfrew office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The remaining balance and security deposit are usually payable upon picking up the vehicle. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where relevant. We accept all major credit and debit cards, with secure processing through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is essential to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be completed and must be signed by both parties. When returning the vehicle, it should be in the same state as when it was collected, taking into account normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged accordingly. The vehicle should be returned with the same fuel level as it was provided; refueling charges will apply if the fuel level is lower. Insurance and Responsibility

To limit your financial liability, consider exploring additional insurance options. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess amount, except when enhanced coverage is obtained. Any damage resulting from negligence or misuse falls under your responsibility, regardless of insurance status.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice given. For specific details, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Usage
Prohibited vehicle uses:
- The vehicle must not be used for any unlawful activities. Engaging in racing, rallying, off-roading, or similar risky behaviors is prohibited. Transporting dangerous materials is also not allowed. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized individuals to drive it is strictly forbidden. Operating the vehicle while impaired by alcohol or drugs is unacceptable. Additionally, the vehicle should not be used for purposes it was not designed for, nor should it exceed passenger or weight limits. Driving outside of the specified geographical boundaries without prior approval is prohibited.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
8. Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Renfrew is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, nor for loss of profits, data, or business that may result from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claim is capped at the amount you paid for the rental in the past 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.
9. Legal Framework
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be handled exclusively in the courts of England and Wales.
10. Term Modifications
We reserve the right to amend these Terms at any time. Updates take effect immediately upon publication on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your agreement to the revised Terms.
