Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or when collecting your vehicle. This document outlines specific terms, conditions, insurance coverage, fees, and your obligations for the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle requires:
- To rent a vehicle from Car Hire in Renfrew, drivers must be at least 21 years old, although age restrictions may vary depending on the vehicle type, with extra fees applicable for those under 25. A valid, full driving licence, appropriate for the chosen vehicle category, must be presented, along with proof of current address and valid identification. Additionally, valid payment information and a security deposit are required. Any further requirements will be outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be completed via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Renfrew office. To confirm your booking, a deposit may be necessary. The remaining balance and a security deposit are generally payable at the time of vehicle pickup. All pricing is listed in British Pounds (£) and includes VAT as applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pick-Up and Drop-Off
- Upon collecting your vehicle, a thorough inspection is required to identify and report any pre-existing damage. A vehicle condition report will be generated and must be signed by you. It is your responsibility to return the vehicle in the same state as received, accounting for normal wear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged as necessary. Ensure the fuel level matches what it was upon collection, as refueling fees will apply if the tank is returned with less fuel. Late returns may result in additional charges, so please notify us as soon as possible if you anticipate returning later than expected. You are accountable for any parking tickets, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during your rental period, alongside an administrative fee.
Insurance and Liability Coverage
- All rentals come with basic third-party insurance included. You can find comprehensive coverage details and excess amounts outlined in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to lessen your financial liability, so reviewing these options is advisable. You remain accountable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess amount unless further coverage is obtained. Damage resulting from negligence or misuse, or any violation of these Terms, remains your responsibility, irrespective of insurance coverage.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise information, consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or failure to show up may incur additional charges.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited Uses of the Vehicle
- The vehicle must not be used for any unlawful purposes or activities. This includes racing, off-roading, or any dangerous maneuvers. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting to others or permitting unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden, as is exceeding the vehicle's passenger or weight capacity. Operating the vehicle outside of the specified geographical boundaries without prior approval is also prohibited.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
8. Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Renfrew is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, that may arise from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the rental amount paid in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be resolved exclusively in the courts of England and Wales.
10. Updates to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon their posting on our website. Continued use of our services indicates acceptance of the revised Terms.
